photos of the children including parents as teachers graduation
Tyler graduated from Parent's as teachers today. However,it was anti-climatic because he has been in preschool for a while now. Emilie has had a cough and had a fever last night. It turns out it was strep. She was up about every hour last night, and even with fever medicine her skin had a reddish hue- like a sunburn. She's on amoxicillin now. Hopefully she feels better soon.

Waste Not, Want Not
First let me say- Emilie had her birthday and I'll post stuff about that- but not right away because videos take time.
And now...
I know in these times our economy calls us to conserve in many aspects of our life. We are also much more "green" as a whole I think. I am remembering the three R's- reduce, reuse, and recycle. Tyler will help take things out and put them into the giant recycling trash can. He knows not to waste too much paper at school- "1.2.3 that's enough for me" and the issue of 'reusing' has now taken a new form. Humor me...
So I was in the bathroom- details being spared- and the need for t.p. was present... I noticed one was empty and so I reached for the other only to find it wet. Many thoughts ran through my mind in the time it took for my brain to realize my fingertips were touching something wet that should NOT be wet. Guess who dropped it in the toilet? Guess who got it out and put it back? At least he said he washed his hands :) Also good, at least he didn't try to flush the whole roll. Waste not....but also WANT not lol.

Read All About It
Well I know it has been a while since I've sent an e-mail out, updating on us. Right now, we are still in the swing of work/school, but this semester is coming to an end shortly. So here is the quick summary of what we are doing.
Rick- Has only about a week left of school. This semester was more college gen. ed. requirements or math classes not pertaining to his major, which is now Physics with an emphasis in Engineering.
He is seriously considering enrolling in a summer course. It has a few drawbacks in his opinion. First being that it is an English course. I can just see his eyes rolling now. Second, it's a long class late at night. However, there are some benefits. Taking it now means not having to squeeze it in during the day next semester- so it will not affect his work schedule as much. So that is a consideration.
Julie- switched shifts (or gears? ) a bit at work. I've been opening the building so my shift starts earlier and I get home to have lunch with the kids now. The summer schedule is still up in the air in some aspects. Mostly though, things will remain the same as now. We get up pretty early here and eat breakfast at school. I am hoping to work with the 'school-agers' this summer- which will actually be what my degree is in, but it seems so long ago now, I'll have to refresh my memory :) So we will be very busy with that. I have a professional development trip coming up shortly that I'm excited about attending! I've been working extra jobs (babystitting, Parent's Night Out) to earn funds for it. I am also organizing a fundraiser/trivia night/parent's night out for school right now. Other than that, just being a mom, working out, occasionally still doing poetry---though that is feast or famine these days. For now, it seems this is where we are. Just working hard, as usual, and keeping busy. We do spend time together, even though there is a lot of 'tag-team" parenting going on- between Rick's classes, my school stuff and going to the gym (not all of us can eat a bucket of ice cream and not gain an ounce--ahem---cough RICK cough)
Tyler- Tyler is doing great! He's a chatterbox! He's doing super at school- of course he's three and a half so some days are better than others :)...but I'm almost 26 and that's true for me too. He's probably most excited about the baby chicks that they hatched at school recently. He loves playing Old maid with me and backscratches. We just recently planted some seeds and he helped dig with Daddy's shovel. Tyler has a big boy bed, in case I didn't mention that.
Emilie- Also doing great. My kids really adapted well to school, even though both were the youngest in their classes. Rose- as I've started calling her, is potty trained, in case I haven't mentioned that- she's been about the same as Tyler so for about five months now, except I obviously wasn't able to stay home and have the consistancy she needed like I did with him...so I just trained her over winter break, but she is able to stay dry at school unless they forget for a long time to let her go or something- which I expected it to be harder since they have a lot of kids at once to deal with. Rose loves music and movement! She is quite the jumper, dancer, runner, and anything else physical you can imagine. I am able to visit her class each morning because I bring my class there to sing. I'm working on her to use her words more in a sentence. She's getting there, but granted...when your brother is SUCH a chatterbox, who can get a word in edgewise ..or for that matter, why should you if he already said it? She is very independent, which is expected (she's a girl, and she's almost 2!).
